The president of Corporación América, Eduardo Eurnekian, has participated in the Fifth Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). The event held in September in the city of New York focused on the ways in which CGI members can make smart investments in infrastructure and human capital.
“Whether it entails offering dwellings to those who do not have one, education to the poor, or green technologies to solve our climate crisis, the solutions to the most pressing challenges ahead require our investment in infrastructure and human capital,” President Clinton said. “Governments and companies alike should make smart investments in projects and labor force to spread the benefits of economic growth to millions of people around the globe.”
Eurnekian participated in the formal opening of this event and showed his strong and sincere interest. Moreover, he also attended the special conference given by a panel of keynote lecturers, including the US Secretary of Labor, Hilda D. Solís.
Solís focused on highlighting the commitments undertaken by the members in an effort to put an end to human traffic and slavery.
The US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, was present for the closing ceremony of the Fifth Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative. There, she stated, “People do not have to share the same political flag or the same religion. Moreover, they do not need to speak the same language to work hand in hand and bring about an impact. We all have lessons to learn from each other. We need a shared mechanism to attain common goals.”
Then, President Clinton profited from the occasion and announced the date for the third meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI). This time the event will be held at Miami University on April 16-18, 2010.
During the meetings of the CGI, executive Eduardo Eurnekian presented the program developed by Corporación América. One of its companies, Fruitful Armenia, undertook a number of ventures within the framework of a social program launched in the city of Arevadasth in Armavir, Armenia, to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.
The tasks envisaged focused on providing the city with the basic infrastructure elements needed to help its people plan a better future in that town. Eurnekian’s involvement has given Arevadasth access to drinking water taken from a well, kindergarten, first aids room, an ambulance and an incubator for the local maternity hospital. There was nothing before.
In addition, he donated 100,000 cans of special nutritive food for the least favored children. The social program was launched in 2006 and has demanded so far an investment of 1,120,000 dollars.
