Eurnekian Tries to Spread His Dream on the Bi-Oceanic Corridor with Chile

eduardo-eurnekian-2010The businessman Eduardo Eurnekian has confirmed the intention of Governments and private sectors from Argentina and Chile to continue with the so called Central Bi-Oceanic Corridor project.  In that sense, the President of Corporación América said that “integration is a dream to turn a split up World into a unit, one’s ideals into the benefit of everybody. This is strategic thinking, exchanging, producing, trading and positioning”

The above statements have been made within the VII Hemispheric Meeting of International Relations Boards framework at which Eduardo Eurnekian closed the third day of the event being held at Sheraton Park Tower Hotel until the 30th April.

New Concession for Corporación America

eurnekian-corredorCaminos del Paraná Company, a member of Corporación America, took over Toll Road Corridor No 6, early on Thursday 22nd May.

The new concession will be responsible for a total 932.84 kilometers of National Route No 16 and National Route No 12 linking Misiones, Corrientes and Chaco provinces.

Caminos Del Paraná will be responsible -throughout six years- for building, improving, repairing, maintaining, expanding, and remodeling, managing and exploiting said routes throughout a toll road system. READ MORE

Welcome Interest for Airports

Eduardo Eurnekian Aeropuerto CarrascoThe Argentine investor group led by the businessman Eduardo Eurnekian is getting ready to submit to the Government an airport development initiative comprising various airports located in the interior of the country.

In this way, Eurnekian Group pretends to expand Business to Uruguay, which started through its successful disembark at  Carrasco International Airport where its Company, Puerta del Sur, invested around 200 million dollars in order to welcome five million passengers/annually which will mean duplicating the current traffic twice.

The Group is trying to submit the initiative to boost Colonia, Salto, Rivera and Rocha Airports before three Ministries – Economics & Finance, Transportation & Public Works and National Defense-

The Bid Awarding Procedure Finishes for the Two Hydro Plants in Santa Cruz River

Following the high tension system arrival at Pico Truncado, now the construction of two hydroelectrical projects will be launched in Santa Cruz River -the most plentiful of the Austral Patagonia region. This is case of the Condor Cliff and Barrancosa Projects.


On the 19th February, Friday, the bids submitted from three consortiums (made up of ten top companies) will be opened. They have re formulated their original proposals in order to compete at the bidding for the construction of two hydro plants in San­ta Cruz river.

This calling out for bidding raised the interest of leading constructors who have undertaken significant hydroelectrical works in Philippines, Co­lom­bia, USA, Bra­zil and Ve­ne­zue­la.
The projects submitted for tender by the National Government for Santa Cruz river have a dramatic energetic and strategic impact on the Austral Patagonia region development.

Having a energetic policy in place since six years ago which put an end to Chubut and Santa Cruz provinces isolation for decades in relation to the National Interconnected System (NIS), the construction of these two hydro plants will aim at repeating in the Austral Patagonian region, the benefits of the 70’s in Comahue from the undertaking of a number of hydro plants such as El Cho­cón, Ce­rros Co­lo­ra­dos, Ali­cu­rá and Pie­dra del Águi­la. Mujica had lunch with main Argentine business men

Eduardo Eurnekian y Jose MujicaThe elected President of Uruguay, José Mujica, called for a lunch in Punta del Este and more than 1500 business men of the whole region, USA and Europe gathered in order to spread signs of stability and mainly to attract investors.

Mujica asked business men to do business in Uruguay and said “We have to take care of the investment climate because wealth is a child of work and work is an investment; so we can tell you Bet on Uruguay!”

The current “Frente Amplio” party Senator thanked specially the attendance of the Argentine business men participating in this meeting: Eduardo Eurnekian (Corporación América); Héctor Méndez (UIA); Julio Werthein (Telecom); Cristiano Rattazzi (Fiat); Carlos Blaquier (Ledesma); Carlos Bulgheroni (Pan American Energy) and Juan José Lopéz Mena (Buquebus) and President of the Argentina Uruguay Chamber of Commerce, the organization responsible for this event. Three final bidders in the running for Telecom

Yesterday, the Credit Suisse - the Bank selected by the Italians to settle the private tender- defined the short list of the names still in the run as potential buyers of Telecom Italy’s stake in Telecom Argentina.

The selected three ones were a consortium formed by Eduardo Eurnekian and Ernesto Gutiérrez Conte, from Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 and Matías Garfunkel Madanes joined them,  then IRSA owned by Eduardo Elsztain and the ex-logistics businessman Alfredo Román. In the three cases, the tender is for a 50 % of Sofora, Telecom Argentina Parenting Company through Nortel, which the Italians have the Werthein group as a partner in.

The Credit Suisse Bank verified that bidders met the requirements of having the money bid set aside and readily available. Some market sources have guaranteed that from now on a further different analysis will be considered to define the successful buyer.

Following the latest unnamed sources, Eurnekian, Gutiérrez Conte and Garfunkel would offer around 580 million dollars and would have Werthein’s endorsement. On their part, Elsztain’s offer would amount to 630 million dollars whilst Roman group would be in the middle of them both. READ MORE

A Drive towards Use of Biofuels

The Federal Planning Gov. Minister, Julio De Vido, announced the effectiveness of a mandatory gasoil blend with a 5% biodiesel. According to De Vido, this percentage will continue increasing year after year until reaching a 20% of the blend in the next four years.
 
As stated by De Vido, the biodiesel incorporation will strengthen five thousand job positions and the country’s energy reserves will increase by 2%. Besides, the Minister explained that this blend will have a neutral effect on the gasoil price.

“For us this is good news. It is a very good thing for biofuel companies to have a foot in the domestic market”, Fernando Peláez, President of the Biofuels Argentine Chamber (“Carbio”), said. READ MORE

Carrasco Airport amongst the Most Beautiful Airports in the World

eurnekian-carrascoIn its January issue the prestigious Travel & Leisure magazine published an article called “The Most Beautiful Airports in the World” and the new Carrasco Airport Terminal (operated by Eduardo Eurnekian’s Corporacion America) is highlighted as one of the best airports.

This selection of airports was made by a renowned architecture Critic, Karrie Jacobs, who writes on travels, architectural design, visual language and architecture- applied- technology in various publications, such as the New York Times, ID & Fortune. She’s also an editor of the most prestigious devoted magazines of architecture, landscaping and urban design. She’s currently a professor at the New York School of Visual Arts. READ MORE

The Bi-oceanic corridor un search of Japanese Partner

The corridor is taking form. The Consortium to put in place phase two is being created: the group would include: Mitsubishi, Queiroz Galvao, San José and Contrera Hnos.; Corporación América will be the operator.

At the 22nd Plenary Meeting of the Argentine Japanese Business Committee- held in Tokyo this month, the Central Bi-Oceanic Corridor Project became relevant again through Eduardo Eurnekian’s words, at one of the main speeches of the event, and this called the attention of the Japanese market.
Through statements made on “Comex” Supplement of Buenos Aires Economico (BAE) newspaper, Corporacion America’s engineering manager of the project, Hugo Eurnekian, said that negotiations on new potential Partners for the Bi-Oceanic Corridor have progressed in such considerable way throughout the Japan-Argentina business committee’s meeting, that one of the Partners-to-be could be Mitsubishi from Japan.
