José Mujica taking office as President of Uruguay reasserts the milestone of a democracy track record in this part of the world. The neighbor country has to be proud of seeing a limpid process taking Mujica to the Presidential office, since from the very beginning of the presidential campaign a great respect amongst the candidates and towards the Uruguayan society as a whole could be noted.
Uruguay has excellent opportunities of medium-and-low term growth opening doors both due to the quality of its governors as well as for the way the change processes have been dealt with, accompanied by a grown-up society responsible for their citizen role. A proper management and power performance by this head of state will help this process –not only from a domestic point of view, but also at the international strategic level.
Tabaré Vázquez left office with over 60% popularity and Mujica will continue with this trustworthy process for the Uruguayan community as a whole and the business community. Mujica is well acquainted with investment and development within a legal security climate being a key to solve social problems. An assertion of this has been the speech he gave at a meeting held with executives early in February when he said, “we have to take care of the investment climate because wealth is a child of work and work is investment. Therefore we can say please “Make your bets on Uruguay!”
It is clear that with this assertion and the certainty of an investment and stability climate, the neighbor country is promising because where there is political and legal stability, risk-running is looked at as a possibility by local and foreign business people.
