Corporación América was present at the 19th Contemporaneous Art Fair ArteBA ’10. It did so through one of its companies, Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, to accompany artist Marta Minujín in the presentation of her latest work, the “Golden Multidirectional Obelisk.”
ArteBa fair, an event held from June 25 through 29 in La Rural, ended with 120,000 visits, an unparalleled figure. For the last three decades, the major art galleries in Argentina present works by the best artists in what has become an actual world-class showcase.
This year release was featured by a strong presence of Latin American artists brought by a number of art galleries from Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, and México. Like Argentina, these countries are also celebrating their Bicentennial.
In line with these celebrations and within the framework of its commitment with national art and culture, Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 has decided to support one of the most famous plastic artists in our country. Accordingly, it has invited everyone to discover the last of the “obelisks” created by this avant-garde artist.
The work titled “Golden Multidirectional Obelisk,” which is seven meters high, comprises five structures of our symbolic building. One of them is in vertical position, while the other four adopt different positions in an attempt to reach the horizontal line.
According to Marta Minujín herself, “The Multidirectional Obelisk shocks the spectator, making him feel that everything is changing around him, depending on the perspective from where it is seen, forcing him to think about Argentina, which is in constant change, moving up and down.”
ArteBa Foundation –the organizer of this traditional fair– is a non-profit, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). It has been working since 1991, supporting creation in visual arts. In addition, it promotes the development and disclosure of Argentine art at both the local and the international level.
